It was great seeing so many of you last Motzei Shabbat at the chagiga, at your homes on Sunday, and speaking to the freshman and sophomore parents on Wednesday night. Thanks for your particpation in the former and cooperation in the latter.

Second trimester Report Cards went in the mail on Thursday. Please e-mail us if you do not receive them.

I invite you to come see the travelling Exhibit about Rabbi Soloveitchik's life which will be with us through March 22.

Shabbat Shalom

Hands Down, Our Best Purim Chagigah Yet
.
This year's Purim Chagigah was as exciting as ever! Students, teachers, and parents all came in creative costumes (pictured at left) to celebrate Purim WYHS-style.

WYHS senior Yoni Gold overcame a tremendous acoustical challenge to deliver an excellent rendition of Megillat Esther to kick off the chagigah. Following megillah reading, DJ Roni Raab pumped up the volume as everyone hit the dance floor for an hour of lively music and dancing!

The entertainment for the evening came in the form of two student-produced Purim videos, courtesy of the freshman and junior classes. In true Purim spirit, the videos poked fun at beloved teachers, administration, and school ritual.

But Rabbi Brander and Rabbi Tirschwell stole the show with their surprising announcement that there would be no school on Shushan Purim!

Thank you to WYHS Executive Board Member Dr. Sam and Arlene Lasko of Lasko Family Kosher Tours for not only catering on a Saturday night for 400 guests (in an indoor sports arena with no kitchen), but donating the entire spread as well.

Juniors Have the Time of Their Lives in NC
.
After a slight delay by the side of the road somewhere in South Carolina, the eleventh grade made it to North Carolina for some fun in the sun and snow!

The juniors enjoyed two and a half days of skiing and snowboarding before returning to Boca on Thursday morning exhausted but happy! The entire grade agreed that while the skiing was great, the highlight of their trip was the "class bonding" that they experienced while away.

As they unloaded the bus in front of WYHS on Thursday, the juniors couldn't find the words to express what a fantastic time they had on their class trip, but the looks on their faces told the whole story! Check out the pictures above and at right to catch a glimpse of what they experienced!

Kudos to Program Director Rabbi Josh Spodek for turning around less than a day after running a great Purim chagiga and running a unbelievable Junior trip.

Accreditation Moves Into Full Swing
By Dana Koldys, WYHS SACS Coordinator

Many WYHS teachers, parents, and students have begun to work to fulfill the requirements for accreditation through SACS, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Last Wednesday, the members of the five committees on the SACS accreditation process met together with accreditation facilitator Skip Sasse.

The process of accreditation involves a self-study of WYHS's beliefs and missions and how they are implemented in order to benefit our students educationally.

The first step is the creation of a school profile in addition to a statement of beliefs and missions. Step two involves examining student performance and how well the school meets the needs of the students. Finally, in step three, an action plan is developed to implement any necessary changes and improvements.

Some of the committees have already begun working but any parent, student, or teacher who would like to get involved is more than welcome to please contact the school. There is always room for one more!
