From the desk of Rabbi Perry Tirschwell
I can't tell you how much the faculty and I enjoyed have so
many families participate in Monday night's chagigah. In
that vein, I'd like to invite parents to join us next Thursday
morning for the inspiring and entertaining Rabbi Paysach
Krohn, at approximately 9:15 AM.
The video of YHS' production of Annie is available for
purchase. To reserve your copy, click here to order and send $18
to the school office.
May G-d protect the American servicemen and Israeli
people who are in harm's way as they take on a modern day Haman
in Iraq.
Shabbat Shalom

Purim YHS Style |

Over 400 students, parents and teachers enjoyed an
marvelous mikra megillah, bountiful break-fast buffet,
ruach-filled rikud and a powerful powerpoint
presentation at the 5th Annual YHS Purim Chagigah. The
party was still going strong way past 10:00 PM! Thanks to
chagigah coordinator Mrs. Leba Schneider,
tefillah coordinator Rabbi Benjy Horowitz, baal
koreh Rabbi Seth Grossman, parent Mrs. Claudia Cohen, and
all who participated for making this Purim YHS' biggest and
best yet.
Four alumni studying at universities in the
northeast and home for Purim and spring break, joined us
for the evening (top photo).
Parents, students and teachers came in costume.
Sometimes, teachers and students (for example, Mrs. Schochet
and her students pictured at left) or parents and children
(click on link below) coordinated their costumes.

The
Week in Review |
|
The YHS Shabbat in NMB this past weekend
certainly accomplished its goal of acquainting the parents
with the Judaic faculty and the Judaic faculty with a
community which 25 YHS students call home. The highlight of
the program was the highly entertaining panel discussion
Friday night led by YHS "adjunct professor" Rabbi Seth
Grossman. Teachers, parents, alumni and present students
shared their views on questions such as "Is there a
correlation between success in school and success in life?"
and "What is the most important trait in a teacher?". The
shabbaton was enjoyed by all.
The Partnership for Excellence in Jewish Education- PEJE
invited Rabbi Tirschwell to its offices in Boston on
Shushan Purim to meet with their development and high school
experts. PEJE has offered to help us raise the significant
funds required to continue to provide scholarships to all who
need and to create a much-needed permanent campus. PEJE was
created seven years ago by 10 foundations who want to help new
schools open, grow and maintain a standard of excellence.
Mazel tov to YHS graduates Shoshan Kowal, Mera Seligman
and Mordechai Turoff , who this week were awarded
prestigious academic scholarships of $5,000 each year to study
at Yeshiva University.
An article in the Boca Raton News about the students
participating in the March of the Living began depicting YHS
senior Rachel Begas' personal connection to the holocaust. A
